The tools arrived. The standard did not.
A policy lands in the staff room, or a new tool appears, and every teacher is left to work out the rest on their own, usually at the moment they are busiest. Some avoid AI entirely. Some lean on it harder than the work can carry. Neither is a position a school can stand behind when a parent asks.
A framework is not a rule book. It is a short, shared way of thinking that a teacher can run through in the moment and a school leader can point to afterwards.
What PACT stands for.
Four things worth weighing up before AI touches a piece of school work. They are named so they are easy to hold on to, in the staff room and in the classroom.
Purpose
Whether this is work AI should be doing at all, and what it is meant to achieve.
Accuracy
What has to be checked, and by whom, before anyone relies on the result.
Confidentiality
What must never go into a tool, and who is owed that protection.
Teacher ownership
Who reviews it, who adapts it, and who stays answerable for it.
They take about a minute to run through, and they end in one decision: proceed, revise, or stop and ask.
What a staff room gets.
- One standard, not thirtyTwo teachers in different classrooms weigh the same use of AI the same way.
- Words for the hard casesA way to say no to one use of AI without saying no to all of it, and to explain why.
- Something that fits the momentFour things to think about at the desk, not a document to go and look up.
Where you meet PACT.
The framework is not a course of its own. It runs through everything we do on AI, so staff leave with the same four things in mind whichever session they sat in.
- AI talks for staff, parents and learners →Every talk is built on the framework, pitched for the room it is in.
- Write your AI policy, free →Our policy wizard works through the same four, in the order a school needs to settle them.
- Advice on technology and AI →Audits, policy planning and where AI actually fits in your school.
Beginner sessions for your staff room.
We are finalising a 90-minute introductory staff session and a 3-hour practical workshop, where teachers work through real tasks at a comfortable pace and agree shared boundaries together. Dates open soon. If you would like to hear when they do, or you want a talk before then, start with a free call.
