Questions

As a school-based licence, for a year. The price depends on how many learners use it and which plan you choose: the planner at the top of this page shows your estimate in rands, and we confirm it in a written quote. Every plan includes onboarding and support.

Purple Mash is built in the UK and used across South African schools. Its tools and lessons cover the skills in the CAPS Coding and Robotics curriculum and other subjects, and we help you plan how to use them for your grades.

Ask us for a demonstration. We show you around with your own staff and answer questions.

For your IT lead

Sign-in, devices, setup and data, from 2Simple's own help pages.

Everyone has their own Purple Mash username and password. Your school can also switch on single sign-on, so people sign in with the Google or Microsoft 365 email and password they already use. A school admin asks 2Simple's support team to turn it on, and each email must match the one in Purple Mash. Alongside single sign-on, we set up a Wonde link for your school, so logins stay in step with your school's admin system. There is also a Purple Mash app for Microsoft Teams, and you can link Purple Mash to Google Classroom.

Give them a 2 or 4 digit picture PIN. Each number has an animal above it, and they tap the animals to sign in. Your school's Quick Login link saves typing a username: the teacher switches it on for 10 minutes in the lesson, and learners pick their class and name. Quick Login only works in school hours, and the link must never go on a public website. Teachers can print login cards for their class.

A school admin adds staff and learners in Manage Users, one by one or from a spreadsheet with the Import Wizard. Or we set up a Wonde link for your school: Wonde connects your school's admin system to Purple Mash, which then syncs staff, learners and classes with the MIS Sync Wizard, at no extra cost. Run it again whenever learners join or leave. Give every learner a number that never changes: 2Simple says schools outside the UK can use a student ID. Without one, you risk duplicate accounts.

Wonde is a company that connects a school's admin system to the learning apps it uses. It works with more than 30,000 schools in over 60 countries and more than 700 apps, and thousands of schools already sync Purple Mash through it. Instead of typing learners into each app, your admin system shares the details through Wonde. For Purple Mash, we ask 2Simple to set it up, your school admin signs in to Wonde's portal, sees exactly which details 2Simple asks for (some are optional and can be switched off), and presses Approve. After that, the MIS Sync Wizard in Purple Mash brings in your staff, learners and classes. Wonde is free for schools, and the sync costs nothing extra.

Purple Mash has an End of Year Wizard that moves your classes up. 2Simple says it is meant for schools with one class per grade. Schools that sync from their admin system run the MIS Sync Wizard instead. On the Premium plan, we do the rollover for you.

A computer with Windows 7 or later, or macOS 10.10 or later, 4 GB of memory and a screen of at least 1024 by 768, using an up to date Chrome, Safari or Edge. Chromebooks need ChromeOS 105 or later, and iPads iOS 15.1 or later. Allow 1 to 2 Mbit/s for each learner online at the same time. 2Simple does not support Chrome on iPads or the Smoothwall browser, and Purple Mash is not made for phones.

No. Purple Mash runs in a web browser. On tablets and Chromebooks, 2Simple recommends its Purple Mash Browser app, from the App Store or Google Play, for the best results. The app still needs the internet.

Whitelist purplemash.com, static.purplemash.com and library.purplemash.com. 2Simple also suggests 2simple.com, where its training feedback forms are.

2Simple says Purple Mash runs on Amazon Web Services servers in Ireland, and all customer data is held there, copied across more than one data centre so nothing is lost. Connections use HTTPS with TLS 1.3, staff passwords are stored encrypted, only three 2Simple staff can reach the servers, and every look at school data is logged. 2Simple says it never sells school data or uses learner data for advertising.

2Simple says it complies with the UK GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act 2018, and with the data protection laws that apply in other countries. For learner and staff data, your school is usually the controller and 2Simple the processor, under 2Simple's Data Processing Agreement. 2Simple's pages do not mention POPIA by name, so if your school needs POPIA paperwork, ask us and we take it up with 2Simple.

Us first: we are your local team. 2Simple's own support team answers at support@2simple.com, and there is a chat with them in the Support menu inside Purple Mash.
