Kitronik Screen-Free Programming Pack for Mai-Z (single)
Code Mai-Z with blocks instead of a screen
Kitronik's Screen-Free Programming Pack for one Mai-Z, the robot mouse from 2Simple. Learners lay colour-coded instruction blocks in a sequence, Mai-Z reads them and acts them out, so no screen is needed. Part of the Mai-Z shipment on its way to South Africa.
Who it is for: Grade R to Grade 3, and schools with few devices

It needs a Mai-Z robot, which runs on a micro:bit V2. Both are sold separately.
What Mai-Z can do.
Picture a Grade 2 class with the floor tiles laid out as a little town. A group chooses where Mai-Z should go, codes the route and sends it off. Mai-Z misses a turn at the crossroads, so the group finds the step that went wrong and tries again. That is sequencing and debugging, with something everyone can watch.
Mai-Z is built by Kitronik for the BBC micro:bit, and comes from 2Simple in its own purple, with lessons in Purple Mash.
Follows a line
Sensors underneath follow the track on the line-following poster.
Senses obstacles and edges
A distance sensor spots what is ahead, and edge sensors notice the end of the table.
Lights and sounds
Four colour lights and a speaker that learners code to flash and play sounds.
Draws as it drives
A pen fits in the middle, so a route becomes a drawing on paper.
Pushes a ball
A scoop at the front pushes a table tennis ball, for a game of robot football.
Coded your way
Screen-free blocks, 2Code in Purple Mash, then MakeCode blocks or Python on the micro:bit.
A town to drive
36 floor tiles of roads, corners and places to drive to, in every Class and Group Set.
Charges by USB-C
Up to an hour on charge, then more than six hours of lessons, depending on use.
For Grade R to Grade 7, in the coding and robotics strands of the Coding and Robotics CAPS. Schools with Purple Mash also get units of work, lesson plans and slideshows for each grade.
